A Collaboration Among: Helping People Succeed, Martin Health System, The ARC of Martin County and Martin County School District
Project SEARCH is a one year high school transition program for students with disabilities that have graduated and are ages 18-21 (if a student turns 22 while enrolled in the program the student is permitted to continue the program and finish the school year as long as the student follows the program requirements). The program is targeted for students whose goal is competitive employment. It takes place in a business setting. Total immersion in the business allows the interns to gain employability and competitive work skills through continuous feedback not only from Project SEARCH staff but also business supervisors and mentors.
Individualized job development and placement is on-going and based on strengths, skills and interests. Students are given support through Project SEARCH staff and work site supervisors with the ultimate goal of employment.
