Artists spruce up t-shirts, aprons, tote bags, into White Shirt Night wearable art

Turn your plain white t-shirt, a special white apron, your favorite tote bag or even a popular ball cap into a colorful display of Treasure Coast and Florida tropical scenes as eight noted artists “paint” their unique designs into wearable, autographed art.

It’s all part of Helping People Succeed’s White Shirt Night on Saturday, June 13 at Taste Casual Dining in Hobe Sound. The evening of art includes artists Dan Mackin, Kevin Hutchinson, Valerie Lally, Sharon Ferina, Paula MacArthur Cooper, Sue Winocur, Ginny Jones and Pam Patterson, all ready to show off their art work in riverscapes, backwoods scenes, pelicans, egrets, turtles and much more. Each artist will design and present three or four scenes for guests to select.

Tickets for general admission between 6 and 9 p.m. are $50 per person and include a drink, hors d’oeuvres and a t-shirt. A special Meet and Greet with the artists between 5 and 6 p.m. will include two drinks, hors d’oeuvres and a selection of one of the White Shirt wearable items “painted” by an artist. Guests may RSVP at 772.320.0773 to Margie Johnson at Helping People Succeed or online at www.hpsfl.org.

In addition to the t-shirts, aprons, tote bags and ball caps, Helping People Succeed will offer a set of four napkins “painted” by several of the artists. The napkins will be $40 per set. All of the art will be signed by the artists on individual t-shirts, aprons, tote bags and ball caps, as well as on the linen napkins for White Shirt Night guests.

During this special evening, Helping People Succeed will recognize the late artist Jane Blatt, who died in February. She participated in White Shirt Night and Helping People Succeed’s annual popular calendar for several years.

This year, funding from the White Shirt Night will benefit Camp Success, an eight-week therapeutic summer program for students between 6 and 12 years old with behavioral problems. The program will offer classes with instructional services, arts and crafts and a number of field trips throughout the area.
